Carl writes and records instrumental underscore and source music for film and television. His work ranges in style from tension-driven soundscapes to meditative ambience and epic percussion-based compositions,. Before focusing on composition, Carl spent decades in live performance as Head of Audio at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Howard Gilman Opera House, where he worked from the late 1980s until his retirement in 2012. During his tenure at BAM, he collaborated with numerous world-renowned artists and composers, including Philip Glass, Tan Dun and Lou Reed . He was the sound designer for the Brooklyn Philharmonic from 2003-2012.
